Tikkun Olam plays a central role in synagogue life at Temple Kol Ami Emanu-El. As a part of our mission, occasions for Gemilut Hasadim (acts of lovingkindness) abound. Special events, learning programs, guest speakers, calls for donations and volunteer opportunities help us strengthen their ties to our neighbors and the greater world.
Our areas of interest are diverse, and limited only by the energy and imagination of the Temple Kol Ami Emanu-El community. We encourage congregants to develop new social action programming with committee guidance and support. Social action programs highlight a broad range of topics including local and global hunger, affordable housing, GLBT issues, domestic violence, health, mental health and peace at home, in Israel and throughout the world.
Throughout the year, collection boxes appear in the lobbies of the synagogue and school buildings for collections sponsored by Social Action and other committees at TKAE. In addition, a permanent collection box stands in the Synagogue lobby, always ready to accept canned food and non-perishable food items.
