Hailing from a rich lineage of Cantors, Cantor, Rabbi Mark Goldman brings a profound passion for modern Judaism and a vast array of accomplishments to our community. Born in London, England, he honed his Cantorial skills and earned an honors B.A. degree in Judaic Studies at the esteemed London School of Jewish Studies, becoming the youngest ever certified minister by the Chief Rabbi of The United Kingdom.

Continuing his pursuit of professional excellence, Cantor Mark Goldman answered the call to Temple Beth El in Rochester, N.Y., where he not only fulfilled Cantorial duties but also earned a Master of Music Degree in Performance and Literature from the renowned Eastman School of Music.

His talents have taken him far and wide, from being among the select few cantors chosen to perform a concert of Jewish music at the Vatican to producing a series of three albums for our congregation and participating in concerts worldwide. Notably, he served as the national president of the American Conference of Cantors (www.accantors.org).

Not withstanding these impressive achievements, Cantor Goldman’s true joy lies in sharing the love and joy of modern Judaism with our community members of all ages. He actively engages in early childhood center activities, mentors B’nai Mitzvah students, and takes part in our Gesher and Religious School programs. In the evenings, he leads confirmation classes, adult education sessions, and guides our choir, all while actively participating in numerous Temple committees. What sets Cantor Goldman apart is his dedication to staying connected with our congregation, reaching out daily through personal visits, calls, emails, texts, or Zoom calls.

Recently achieving a long-term goal, Cantor Goldman gained Rabbinical Ordination (S’micha) from The Academy of Jewish Religion NY in 2023. As co-senior clergy, he plays a vital role in congregational strategic planning, visioning, marketing, membership initiatives, tikkun olam efforts, continuing education, and fundraising.
