Vision חזון
Our prophets envisioned a world of harmony and peace ingrained with Jewish practice, values and spirituality. More than 2500 years later this is still our vision. The creation of a community that inspires lives of Jewish meaning and practice repairing our world (Tikun Olam) for generations to come.
Mission משימה
Temple Kol Ami Emanu-El is a member of the Reform movement adhering to the core values and practices of the Jewish People. We strive each day to create Jewish life overflowing with warmth, meaning and community. We accomplish our mission through inspiring prayer, insightful Torah classes, engaging education curriculum and a jam-packed calendar of social, communal and Jewish holiday events & programming for every age and demographic of our community.
Values הערכים
These are the Aseret HaDevarim; the ten core values that we cherish and strive to live up to at Temple Kol Ami Emanu-El:
Ahavat Torah - Love for Torah
Our love for Torah is expressed in our programming for children and adults of every age. From our Early Childhood, Religious School, Gesher, and High School Programs through family and adult education, we believe in the transformative power of learning Torah to enhance our life and our Jewish identity.
Ahavat Yisrael - Love for Israel
We are doubly blessed by our love for Israel. A love for the Jewish people in any way they express themselves and live their Jewish heritage. And secondly through our love for the State of Israel, the lighthouse and eternal home of the Jewish people.
Ahavat Hashem - Love for God
God is one but each one of us cling to God in a particular way. We provide members of our congregation with diverse opportunities through prayers, holidays and spiritual encounters with the potentiality to build a personal and unique relationship with God.
Ahavat Olam - Love for the world and its people
Together with the love of our Jewish brothers and sisters and our Jewish heritage we are committed to loving and caring for all people. We strive for inclusion, equality and the betterment of this world that we are all a part of.
Ahavat HaGivun - Love for diversity
We love everyone. We are committed to being a safe and open congregation for everyone who calls us home. Regardless of gender, sexual orientation, economical status, or level of observance and knowledge of Judasim, this is your home. Respect, acceptance and love are our guiding principles.
Ahavat HaKehila - Love for our community
Temple Kol Ami Emanu-El has been the home to thousands of Jewish families for close to five decades. We believe and cherish the notion of Kehilah (community). We believe in the power and meaning of being part of a strong and caring Jewish community, to support each other in our simchas (happy moments) and be there for each other during life’s inevitable challenges.
Ahavat HaMishpacha - Love for Family
Family is at the core of our life and our Jewish experience. Even though we tailor programming to different ages and groups, we cherish the value of experiencing our Jewish life as a family. The family of TKAE. (We are a multigenerational congregation that aims to keep families together) – not sure what this means…. and to live our Jewish life mixing together all genders, ages and backgrounds.
Ahavat HaMitzvot - Love for the Commandments
The commandments are the Jewish way to express ourselves in the world. We are a people of action. We teach and cherish each one of our ancient and holy Mitzvot, and encourage participation through teaching and love. We invite our Temple family to connect with different Mitzvot, ritual or social, to enhance their Jewish life.
Ahavat Ivrit - Love for the Hebrew language
Hebrew has been the language of the Jewish people for the last 3000 years. We believe in the importance of learning Hebrew as a key component of our Jewish identity and connection to the State of Israel
Ahavat HaAdam - Love for human beings
Rabbi Akiva says “Beloved is man for he was created in the image of God.” At TKAE we value the uniqueness of each human being. We are a community of open doors where everyone comes as they are and we hope that every human being can find their own path of connection with the values and practices of the Jewish people.
Ahavat Torah - Love for Torah
Our love for Torah is expressed in our dedicated programs for children, youth and adults. From our Early Childhood to our Adult Education programs we believe in the transformative power of learning Torah to enhance our life and our jewish identity.
Ahavat Israel - Love for Israel
Our love for Israel is double. First is a love for the Jewish people in any way they express themselves and live their jewish heritage. And second is our love for the State of Israel, the lighthouse and the eternal home of the Jewish people.
Ahavat Hashem - Love for God
Ahavat Olam - Love for the world and its people
